Seven Jewish Holy Days that Rock

 

Israel has an annual cycle of seven Holy days that date back to ancient times. These seven Holy Days are:

  1. PASSOVER
  2. UNLEAVENED BREAD
  3. FIRSTFRUITS
  4. WEEKS
  5. TRUMPETS
  6. YOM KIPPUR (DAY OF ATONEMENT)
  7. TABERNACLES

Springtime Feast

PASSOVER is the first of seven annual feasts, christian drug rehab is conducted in the spring of the year, and is considered the Feast of Salvation. UNLEAVENED BREAD Lasts for a week and commemorates the fact that the Israelis had no time to add yeasts to their bread before the hasty departure from Egypt.

FIRSTFRUITS acknowledges and gives thanks to God for the replanting of the earth each spring.

 Fall Feast

TRUMPETS is a fall feast known as the “day of remembrance” and is known for the liberal use of the Shofar or Rams horn.

YOM KIPPUR (DAY OF ATONEMENT)   is the highest of holy days,  the most solemn and important day on the Jewish calendar. This is the day the high priest goes into the Holy of Holies each year to make an offering for the sins of Israel.

Seventh and Final Feast

TABERNACLES (BOOTHS) is the seventh and final feast. For seven days the Israelites made offerings to the lord and lived in makeshift huts to signify the 40 years in the desert prior the taking of Canaa

COME BEAT THE WORLD RECORD FOR MOST DREIDELS SPUN AT ONE TIME!Come celebrate Hanukkah 70s style with the Jewish Student Union’s Freshmen Council! We’ll be attempting to beat the world record for the most dreidels spun at one time – beating out Michigan’s record of 610 people!!What could be better than 70s-themed dancing and dreidel spinning all night long!christian drug treatment So grab your friends, get on over to the Armory, shake your tailfeathers John Travolta style, and help your school be recognized in the Guinness Book of World Records!

RECORD ATTEMPT DREIDEL SPINNING WILL BEGIN AT 8pm.

There will be a live DJ, henna tattoos, candy menorah making, awesome JSU blankets and so much more!
